Swimming Readiness
Swimming and water safety are necessary skills for all children. Swimming pools are noisy, smelly visually stimulating and sometimes overwhelming for children. Many children benefit from 1:1 preparation and support around sensory, motor and/or communication issues before being ready to access mainstream lessons. Our aim is to help children feel comfortable in the pool so the transition to swimming lessons is enjoyable and fun.
Our approach is to embed intervention within purposeful and meaningful activities that actively engage children. Children learn about themselves and the world by playing and exploring a range of environments. Aqua therapy is a perfect forum to work on skills in a play-based, motivating manner. Water play can produce therapeutic benefits for many conditions, including Autism, Developmental Coordination Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Global Developmental Delay, sensory regulation difficulties, hyperactive children and more.
What’s the process
We start with a phone consult before booking you in at the pool.
Participating in our aquatic therapy programs entails the same initial assessment and consultation onsite as does our traditional services. As therapists, we need to goal, plan and assess your child’s abilities and needs to ensure that aqua therapy will address the individual needs of person.
